Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is a two-step login process that requires users to enter their standard credentials followed by a verification code that they receive by email. This additional step enhances account security by requiring each user to verify their identity before accessing their account.
Enabling MFA for your GivingData login or portal logins (available portals include grantee, external reviewer, and board portals) adds an extra layer of security for the standard login. MFA is available at all pricing tiers and can be activated upon request. Contact your Client Success Manager to enable MFA for either the GivingData login, the portal logins, or both.
If you have Single Sign-On (SSO) and do not have the GivingData native login (standard username and password credentials) as part of your login page, this MFA will not apply to your GivingData site.
The article sections below contain instructions on how to log in once MFA is enabled.
Log In to GivingData with MFA
- Enter your standard credentials for GivingData, which include your registered email address and password, and then click Login.
- You will receive an email containing a verification code sent to the email address associated with your account.
Enter the verification code you received via email, and then click Sign In.
- If a user requests three verification codes in succession without successfully logging in, their account will be temporarily locked for 15 minutes. During this time, they will not be able to attempt to log in again until the lockout period has elapsed.
- Check the "Remember my device for 30 days" box to skip the verification code requirement for subsequent logins on the same device for a period of 30 days. This allows for a more streamlined login experience without the need to enter a verification code each time.
Log In to a Portal with Multi-Factor Authentication

If multiple portals are configured for your site (available options are grantee, external reviewer, and board portals) and a user has access to more than one, they are prompted to select a portal to access after completing the MFA steps.
