This article covers how to set up the GivingData Add-In for Microsoft Word and corresponds with Phase 1b: Client Instructions in the Microsoft Word Add-In: Integration Checklist. These steps must be completed by each user intending to use the add-in.
Refer to Phase 1a in the checklist above before completing the steps in this article, as a manifest file (provided by your GivingData contact) is required.
Microsoft Office 2016 or later is required to install this add-in.
Save the Manifest File
- Open your Mac's hard drive by pressing Shift+Command+C.
- If it does not appear, press Shift+Command+. (period) to display hidden folders.
- Open the Users folder, and then open the folder with your username.
- Open the Library folder, open the Containers folder, and then open the Microsoft Word folder.
- If you cannot find the Library folder, it may be hidden. To find the hidden folder, hold down the Option key to display hidden folders.
- Another option is to open a Finder window by pressing Command + F. Navigate to the Mac hard drive by pressing Shift+Command+C, and then press Shift+Command+. (period) to display hidden folders.
- Open the Data folder, open the Documents folder, and then verify that there is a folder titled “wef” inside it.
- If this folder does not exist, create it now.
- If this folder does not exist, create it now.
- Copy the manifest (.xml file) provided by your GivingData contact into the wef folder.
Load the Manifest in Microsoft Word
- Open a new Microsoft Word document.
- Click Add-Ins, and then click GivingData in the Developer Add-Ins section.
- The GivingData Add-In for Microsoft Word is now installed, and will appear in the header bar.
