The BILL integration is available as an add-on to all subscriptions.
If you do not currently have a BILL account, please reach out to your GivingData CSM. Your CSM will coordinate to have a BILL representative reach out to you to set up your account. Any paid BILL subscription is sufficient to utilize the GivingData BILL integration.
The BILL integration allows you to send payments from your GivingData site to your BILL account both individually and in batch. The status of a payment sent to BILL automatically updates on the GivingData record.
The checklist below serves as a high-level overview of the integration set-up phases. The phases labeled "Client Instructions" contain the items to ensure you have checked off before moving forward, as well as linked articles with detailed instructions and steps for the phase.
The phases labeled "GivingData Instructions" are provided for your context. The steps in those phases are completed by GivingData staff. Reach out to your GivingData contact if you have specific questions about any of those phases, as you will not have access to open the linked resources.
Phase 1: Client Instructions
In this phase, you will complete initial configuration in BILL. Complete the steps outlined in BILL Integration Setup based on whether you are using one BILL account or multiple BILL accounts.
One BILL account:
✅ Create a sync token and sync password.
- Provide the sync token name and sync token password to your GivingData contact.
Multiple BILL accounts:
✅ Retrieve a console admin's username and API token.
✅ Retrieve the organization ID and name for each client in your console.
- Provide the admin's username and API token, and each client's organization ID and name to your GivingData contact.
Phase 2: GivingData Instructions
This phase is completed by your GivingData contact.
Complete the steps outlined in BILL Integration Setup: Internal Guide. Main steps for this phase include:
✅ Update the BILL fields in Client & Feature Configuration for the client's site.
✅ Enable the new Manage BILL Integration permission for the necessary roles.
Phase 3: Client Instructions
In this phase, you will review a resource for using the integration.
