The MCP Connector integration is available with the Enterprise subscription.
The GivingData MCP (Model Context Protocol) Connector allows you to connect your GivingData site to your AI platform (LLM) of choice (Microsoft 365 Copilot, ChatGPT, or Claude). More than one LLM can be connected. Once connected, you can use Microsoft 365 Copilot, ChatGPT, or Claude to ask natural-language questions about your GivingData data (e.g., listing recent grant requests, summarizing applications, or pulling reports) without leaving the chat window. Each user's access is automatically scoped to their own GivingData permissions.
The checklist below serves as a high-level overview of the integration set-up phases. The phases labeled "Client Instructions" contain the items to ensure you have checked off before moving forward, as well as linked articles with detailed instructions and steps for the phase.
The phases labeled "GivingData Instructions" are provided for your context. The steps in those phases are completed by GivingData staff. Reach out to your GivingData contact if you have specific questions about any of those phases, as you will not have access to open the linked resources.
Phase 1: GivingData Instructions
This phase is completed by your GivingData contact.
Complete the steps outlined in MCP Connector Setup: Internal Guide. Main steps for this phase include:
✅ Update the MCP Server fields in Client & Feature Configuration for the client's site.
✅ Configure the MCP User role and assign the appropriate user to the role.
Phase 2: Client Instructions
In this phase, you will connect your GivingData site to your LLM of choice (Microsoft 365 Copilot, ChatGPT, or Claude) using the MCP Connector. Complete the steps outlined in one of the articles below, depending upon which LLM your organization uses. More than one LLM can be connected if desired.
